Adding HubSpot Customers to Gladly

Overview

HubSpot is inbound marketing, sales, and service software that is popular because of its tools for social media marketing, content management, web analytics and search engine optimization. Fortunately, integrating Gladly and HubSpot has never been easier thanks to Zapier.

This tutorial will lead you through the process of connecting HubSpot to Gladly so that every time a new contact is created in HubSpot, a Customer profile is added to Gladly with all of their contact information from HubSpot.

Getting started

To successfully complete this tutorial, you will need:

Adding a HubSpot Customer to Gladly

Step #1: Create a new Zap

If you're new to Zapier, don't worry! Zapier provides a wonderful guide on how to get started creating Zaps.

Step #2: Create a Trigger Event from HubSpot

For the first Action of your new Zap, search for and choose HubSpot as the App and "New Contact" as the Trigger Event.

You will need to connect to your HubSpot account before moving on to the next step.

Hint: Don't forget to give your Zap a descriptive name!

Step #3: Create a Customer in Gladly

For the next action of your new Zap, search for and choose Gladly (1.0.1) as the App and "Create Customer" as the Action Event.

Authenticate: At this point, you will be asked to authenticate with your Gladly account. This is where you need your Gladly username and API token. If you need help generating an API token, check out the developer docs.

Hint: The Gladly URL will generally be https://{YOUR-COMPANY-NAME}.gladly.com

Step #4: Customize the Customer created in Gladly

Use the information from HubSpot to populate the contact information for the Customer that will be created in Gladly. We highly recommend filling out the Name, Email, and Phone Number fields.

Adding Custom Fields (optional)

Ask your Customer Success Manager (CSM) for help configuring custom attributes to display in the Customer's profile.

Below is an example of adding two attributes, customerSince and birthday, to the profile. The definition is made by creating an object with a key:value pairing.

{ "KEY": "VALUE" }

The CSM will be able to tell you what key to use and you can select data from the HubSpot payload for the value.

Step #5: Test your Zap!

You're all done with setup! How easy was that?

Once you enable you Zap, make sure to test it by creating a new contact in HubSpot. Search for the contact's email address in Gladly and confirm that the Customer's profile has been created with the attributes that you expect.

You can also check that everything went through your Zap by going to the Task History menu on Zapier.
